Unfortunately, no. Healthcare providers have a lot on their plate. Many often pressure people giving birth to do things that are not in their best interest in order to speed things along. It's up to you to be educated on what's necessary and what's not. C-section rates are around 30% in America. There is no reason for them to be that high. Sometimes, when healthcare providers recommend things, it does more harm than good.

I do not recommend taking free hospital courses. Those courses offered at hospitals teach you how to be a good patient. Read: easy patient. They don't teach you how to give birth in a way that works best for you. That's what you'll learn with Bump Up Birth. How to handle birth in a way that makes you feel involved in your care, and good about the choices you'll make. I've never had a doula client that was properly prepared after taking a hospital class. If your hospital has a specialty class that's more expensive than Bump Up Birth, it probably has the information you need. The free or inexpensive classes definitely do not.

Oh, so many ways! Let me ask you this. Did you enjoy sitting in class for hours? If so, maybe a traditional class is better for you. Sometimes, well-meaning friends tell us things that are flat out wrong, or not something you'll experience in YOUR birth.
